This week, from May 11-17 we celebrate National Nursing Week! This is a week to celebrate nurses and highlight all of ways they go above and beyond for their clients. This year in particular, we have all seen the dedication and perseverance that our nurses have shown in the fight against COVID-19. It is very important to us that we recognize the sacrifices our nurses and healthcare workers have made to keep everyone safe and healthy. Over the course of this week, we at Nightingale will be posting blogs all about nursing – from the history of Florence Nightingale, to ways to show appreciation for nurses.
The theme for this year’s National Nursing Week is Nurses: A Voice to Lead – Nursing the World to Health. The meaning behind this theme is to highlight how central nurses are to tackling a variety of global health issues.
As we have several Nurses Specialized in Wound, Ostomy and Continence on our team, we can see firsthand the work that they put into making sure our clients feel their best. Check out our previous blogs during NSWOC week to find out more about the work that NSWOCs do.
Nurses Week each year falls on the week that surrounds May 12, which is Florence Nightingale’s birthday. As 2020 marks the 200th year since Florence was born, in her honor, the World Health Organization has designated 2020 as the Year of the Nurse and Midwife.
