National Nursing Week 2021: Ways to Say Thanks to Nurses

Ways to Say Thanks to Nurses
May 10, 2021

On May 10-16th, 2021, we celebrate National Nursing Week! It takes place this week to commemorate Florence Nightingale’s birthday which was May 12.

The theme for this year’s week is #WeAnswerTheCall. A year after the pandemic, we see now more than ever the commitment that nurses have towards their patients and the courage they showcase in helping our communities. National Nursing Week is meant to increase the awareness and educate the public on the vast contributions of nurses to well-being of Canadians.

Although, we should be celebrating nurses every day, we wanted to highlight some great ways to celebrate and thank nurses during National Nursing Week.

  • Post on Social Media

The Canadian Nurses Association has created a social media campaign to celebrate the contributions of nurses in Canada. Use #CNA2021 #WeAnswerTheCall #IKnowANurse #NationalNursingWeek #IND2021 #Nurses2021 and create posts, pictures and stories creating awareness about National Nursing Week and sharing stories of how nursing have impacted your life for the better.

  • Write a Thank You Note!

Nothing beats a nice handwritten card. Grab a group of friends and put together some nice hand written cards that show your appreciation to nurses! Mail or hand deliver your cards to your local hospitals. Many options out there let you create digital cards if you are unable to write a card.

  • Donate to your local hospitals!

Monetary donations help hospitals buy the equipment they need and provide their services at a high quality level. Another great way to help our nurses is by donating to your local hospitals to ensure they have all the resources they need to support their patients to the best of their abilities.
