What are Varicose Veins?
Varicose veins are twisted and enlarged veins particularly those that are closer to the skin’s surface; these are known as superficial veins. Varicose veins are most often found in the legs, as there is an increased pressure in the veins due to standing and walking.
Severe cases of varicose veins can cause discomfort or pain. Varicose veins are dark purple or blue as opposed the regular pale black veins that our usually seen, these veins also look twisted or bulged. Varicose veins symptoms don’t always include pain but when they do it usually includes a heavy feeling in the legs more exacerbated by sitting or standing for a long time.
Compression socks and stockings help alleviate the symptoms of varicose veins. Compression garments help increase circulation and blood flow, which help reduce painful symptoms. Doctors agree that if you see mild symptoms such as a lower level of pain, you can wear regular panty hose or knee-high stockings.
