Ostomy & Covid-19

Globally, we are all experiencing a time that is full of challenges, stress, and uncertainty. Having an ostomy may only add to that anxiety, as you may be concerned about where your ostomy supplies are coming from and whether you will have difficulty getting them. It is important to us at Nightingale that although you may be concerned about other aspects of life at this time, that you feel comfortable with the knowledge that you will be able to access your supplies. Here are excerpts of statements from Nightingale’s ostomy suppliers.

Coloplast: “Currently, the Coronavirus is not impacting our ability to supply our medical devices to customers across the globe, and we encourage all customers to continue to order regular supply quantities to avoid hoarding.” (March 19, 2020)

Convatec: “An internal team has been established which is regularly assessing the impact, developing potential mitigating actions, and sharing the output with the ConvaTec leadership team. At this stage, we are confident we will continue to provide customers with the vital ConvaTec products they need. The impact to our global supply chain is constantly being assessed due to the dynamics of this virus. At present we have minimal impact from the current COVID-19 situation.” (March 13, 2020)

Hollister: “At this time, we do not anticipate any impact to our ability to supply our ostomy or intermittent catheter products to our current customers or others in need.” (March 13, 2020)

What you can do

It is always good practice to keep your necessary backup supplies on hand. Nightingale is available to take your regular orders and will have them ready for delivery or pickup (however, access to the stores is restricted). We want you to know that our stock levels are strong at Nightingale and there is no cause for concern with the availability of products. However, it is important to remember not to hoard ostomy products at this time. This could prevent getting ostomy supplies to those who urgently need them. If you have pressing concerns about your ostomy or pouching system, please contact your nearest Nightingale location; NSWOCs may be available for phone consultations.
