Tips for Managing Lymphedema at the Home Office

With so many people working from home since the pandemic, it’s important that those with Lymphedema understand the effects on the limbs and make a few adjustments to control them. Here are some of our tips for managing with this change.

  • Move often rather than just sitting at one spot at your desk for long periods of time.
  • Stretching occasionally is important! Research some stretches that can be done from your desk.
  • Get up and walk around your home at regular intervals! It’s good for your limbs, it’s also good for your mental health to take breaks from the screen throughout the day.
  • Exercise in the middle of the workday if possible!
  • Research how to do self-guided massages at home. Your massage therapist probably has great resources available to get you started.
  • If you use a laptop, see if it is ergonomically appropriate for your arm. If not, make sure you are lifting your arms more to increase circulation.
