Showing Appreciation for Nurses

This week, during National Nursing Week, we salute our caring and hardworking nurses! We appreciate nurses on the front lines, behind the scenes and everywhere in between, especially during this pandemic. Did you know that only 3 out of 5 nurses in the United States work in hospitals? As a nurse, there are plenty of career directions you can choose, from clinical care to nurse educators to in-home care, nurses are available in many capacities. If you are looking to show your appreciation for a special nurse, there are many ways you can do so.

Express your thanks.

Whether in person, via phone call or email, nurses will always appreciated being recognized for their work. A handwritten card is always a thoughtful touch when saying thank you to a caregiver who has gone above and beyond.

Acknowledge help.

If you have had an excellent experience with a nurse, a great way to express your gratitude is to reach out to their supervisor and let them know. Good feedback means a lot coming from a client!

Gift with food.

Nurses are on their feet all day, moving from one client to the next and might not have time for a nutritious meal.. Did you know that on average, nurses walk six kilometres during a 12 hour shift? One way to help is offering to gift food to the unit or clinic to help keep them energized- companies like SkipTheDishes make it easy to have food delivered. Foods like wraps and personal pizzas allow something quick and easy to eat on the go.

Be kind.

If you are currently getting care from a nurse, the biggest thing you can do to improve their day is simply to be kind and patient. This will allow your nurse to remain calm and do their best.
